Use BRLSI’s Bath Discovery Trails (powered by TrailMakerPRO™) to explore the unique city of Bath, UK, to learn something new, and to discover something amazing.
Our trails are an ideal way to find out more about the citys rich past as well as the history of our planet. These stories included in these trails span 4.2 billion years: from the very formation of our planet to the lost worlds of extinct species, from the
friendship that forged Darwin’s ‘Origin of Species’ to the world’s first industrial
war. Focusing on a single object from the collection of the Bath Royal Literary
and Scientific Institution (BRLSI), each trail will take you on a historical
journey through the city to reveal a detailed and fascinating story about that
object’s connection to Bath and BRLSI. Each trail will lead you to BRLSI where
you can view (for free) the objects that inspired each walk.
The app uses GPS (Global Positioning System) on your phone to guide you
along every step of each trail. These are city walks, designed for all ages; each
route is unique, and should take between 90 and 120 minutes to complete.
There are plenty of places to stop for coffee, a snack, a convenience break, or
simply to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
In each trail, you will be invited to take a ‘picture challenge’ on each step that
is saved to a gallery on your phone at the end of your journey. We would like
you to share your images on social media using the hashtag #BRLSI
